A more nuanced approach to upgrading your wine palette

Going to a wine shop should expose you to someone with expertise who can ask you questions about what you’re drinking and suggest the next logical step. Logic doesn’t dictate going from $15 to $100. If you’re sold that bill of goods, leave and don’t return to that wine retailer.

Take any discount deals on wine at grocery stores

A supermarket is not a true wine store, but it likely is a place where you buy wine. Who can pass up the convenience of buying toilet paper, green beans, and wine in a one-stop shop experience?

10 THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT NARRAGANSETT BEER

Narragansett Brewing is an American beer success story. The first ‘Gansett lager debuted in 1890, after which the Rhode Island-born brewery survived Prohibition, became the biggest lager maker in New England, and then, after complications following the 1965 sale of the brewery to Falstaff Brewing Corporation, shut down in the 1980s.

New Mich Ulta And Size

Anheuser-Busch InBev (ABI) has released Michelob Ultra in 7-ounce bottles in select markets in the U.S. At 55 calories per bottle, the smaller format is aimed at calorie-conscious drinkers looking for a lighter way to indulge. Michelob Ultra 7-ounce bottles are rolling out this month across Texas, Florida, Arizona, North and South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, Georgia, and California. Though the domestic mainstream beer category continues to soften in the U.S., ABI reported double-digit growth for Michelob Ultra last year. The company also recently extended the brand with Michelob Ultra Pure Gold, an expression made with organic grains.

Pabst Sued for Saying Some of Its Beer Is Fancier Than It Really Is

We Shouldn’t Sacrifice Creativity for Ideology

The production process as much as the climate and geology of the vineyard determines what ends up in the bottle. This is crucial information for the consumer to know and is sometimes more useful than knowing the AVA in which the grapes were grown, which may have so much diversity as to be meaningless.

Everything You Need to Know About Orange Wine

Though the amber-hued drink has been around for some time, the term “orange wine” was allegedly coined in the early 2000s by a U.K.-based wine importer. It also has nothing to do with citrus.

WHY YOU SHOULD ALWAYS TAP THE TABLE BEFORE TAKING A SHOT

Many drinkers believe this demonstrates respect for the establishment and those who work there. Tapping the bar is a way to celebrate the often-unseen folks who made the moment possible, such as barbacks, kitchen porters, delivery truck drivers, locksmiths, and so on.

The Magic of Moscato d’Asti

It’s hard not to fall in love with Moscato d’Asti. This perfumed, sweet Italian white wine is well-loved by wine drinkers of all kinds. Why? Simple: it’s so easy to drink! Of course, if you go beyond the blue bottle bling, you’ll find Moscato d’Asti is much more sophisticated than you might think.

Total Wine & More Sharpens Focus on Winery Direct

“As the wholesalers become consolidated, their ability to handle new projects, new wineries, and new brands, is going to become more and more focused on the big wineries,” he said, “Less focused on family-owned individual wineries. That’s just common sense.”

Trone said his business is about getting more customers in the door and making more money through higher sales or higher margins.

This leaves us as a small business to focus on the 10% of wineries that are not MAJOR COPRERATIONS and not overpriced private labels

Drink Better Wine!

U.S. restaurants are among the best in the world, specialty food shops are proliferating, and we have farmer’s markets in every town large enough to feature a traffic light.

But wander down the wine aisle of most supermarkets and you find nothing but the same old same old differing only in the flash of the marketing or the cuteness of the name on the label. It’s really depressing. Hundreds of Chardonnays and Cabs all tasting alike but nary a Austrian Gruner Veltliner or Blaufrankisch.

Wine Labels Are Little White Lies With Enormous Implications

If you think that wine labels don’t matter, that they don’t affect the way a wine tastes, think again. What you think about a wine absolutely makes a difference to how much you enjoy it. And labels play a very important role in how you think about what you’re drinking.

How to Avoid Pay-to-Play Violations

The TTB has increased its enforcement budget—here’s what you need to know to stay in the clear

Possibly setting the tone for the $5 million trade enforcement budget was the 2016 Massachusetts Craft Beer Guild settlement with the TTB for $750,000. The settlement resulted from alleged violations that Craft Beer Guild paid “slotting fees” to retailers in exchange for favorable product placement and shelf space.

Pulque is produced from the sap of the maguey plant, or agave, which makes it a relative (a very, very ancient relative) of mezcal and tequila. However, pulque is created through fermentation, rather than distillation, a process that begins as soon as the plant is cut into and one which will continue even as you drink it.
