TRACES OF 6,000-YEAR-OLD WINE COULD REWRITE ITALY’S WINEMAKING HISTORY
Traditionally, it’s been believed that wine growing and wine production developed in Italy in the Middle Bronze Age (1300-1100 B.C.), as indicated by the discovery of as seeds, ancient storage pots and the remnants of wineries.
However this latest discovery positions the start of Italy’s winemaking heritage even further back in history, indicating that the ability to make wine was acquired in at least 4,000BC – the Copper Age.

New Belgium Releases Voodoo Ranger Atomic Pumpkin Ale
Brewed with Saigon cinnamon and Habanero peppers, Atomic Pumpkin Ale starts out sweet and finishes spicy with a little bitterness in between. The medium body ale pours bright pale amber with a light white lacing, and features Nugget hops combined with Pale Mena, Pale Rahr, Caramel and Munich malts to create a spicy and warming mouthfeel.

New Woodbridge Package
Constellation’s Woodbridge by Robert Mondavi brand has debuted single-serve packaging for its wines. The new Woodbridge Stacked Singles are ready-to-serve, 187-ml. peel-open shatterproof cups, offered in Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, Red Blend and Cabernet Sauvignon expressions. Priced at $2.49 a cup, Woodbridge’s Stacked Singles are available at wine retailers nationwide. Woodbridge by Robert Mondavi, Constellation’s largest wine brand by volume, grew 4.8% to 9.8 million cases last year. With similar growth in 2017, the entry-level label could top the 10-million-case mark.

Gain the confidence to taste, sell, and speak meaningfully about all aspects of French wine, from Champagne to Bordeaux and everything in between. Pass the exam and earn the title French Wine Scholar and FWS post-nominal.
Developed by the Wine Scholar Guild with the support of the French Ministry of Agriculture, this specialization program is designed for advanced students of wine, whether professionals or serious wine hobbyists. This is NOT an introductory wine class; students should have professional wine experience or previous classroom study. Students must be familiar with the concepts of viticulture and vinification, major grape varieties, wine regions, and wine styles from across the globe, and have experience tasting wine in a formal setting.

Do you like wine? Do you like books? Join us for a special Wine Tasting & Book Club Meeting at Franklin Liquors. Kim Shipala, Assistant Library Director at the Franklin Public Library, will lead a discussion of the novel, while Kim Simone of Vinitas Wineworks and Mark of Franklin Liquors will do a tasting of the wines mentioned in the book.
