Wine, women and Dena Blizzard’s new board game
Wouldn’t it be funny, thought the comedian and former Miss New Jersey, if there were a game like that for grown-ups. Only, you wouldn’t wander the neighborhood seeking elusive cartoon characters, you would part your neighbor’s shrubs or peek under their decks for hidden bottles and glasses of Chardonnay.

Reality and wine – are tasting notes all wrong?
Perhaps wine needs its own language; a set of original words that provides a precise, holistic description of wine. Rather than co-opting various flavour descriptors that are often approximate at best (‘hint of loganberry’ et al), and which may not resonate for different cultures, you could simply create words that would describe the classic styles of wines.

Gallo Dominates Domestic Wine “Hot Brands,”
With U.S. wine consumption estimated to have hit a record high of 326.7 million cases in 2016, Impact’s latest list of wine “Hot Brands” reflects a healthy mix of returning stalwarts and rising stars. On the domestic wine side, the 2016 Hot Brands lineup featured a total of 19 winners.
E.&J. Gallo led the way with seven domestic honorees. Gallo’s Barefoot Cellars ($7-$10 a 750-ml.) held its spot at the top of the domestic roster, selling 18.3 million cases last year to earn its 14th consecutive Hot Brand award. Barefoot was joined by the lightly carbonated Barefoot Refresh offshoot, as well as Gallo portfoliomates Liberty Creek, Apothic, Dark Horse and William Hill.
Gallo also counted Vin Vault, a premium boxed wine, among its domestic winners. Premium boxed wine pioneers Black Box (Constellation) and Bota Box (Delicato Family Vineyards) likewise earned Hot Brand honors, with each selling more than 5 million cases last year. Other domestic award-winners include Deutsch Family’s Josh Cellars and Constellation’s Meiomi, which both surpassed the million-case threshold in 2016. While premium California wines accounted for the vast majority of domestic honorees, Washington’s Ste. Michelle Wine Estates also made a strong showing with its 14 Hands and Columbia Crest brands.
Do We Need to Give Up Alcohol to Lose Weight? Not Necessarily
Most such studies showed that “frequent light to moderate alcohol intake” — at most two drinks a day for men, one for women — “does not seem to be associated with obesity risk.” However, binge drinking (consuming five or more drinks on an occasion) and heavy drinking (more than four drinks in a day for men, or more than three for women) were linked to an increased risk of obesity and an expanding waistline.

The Rise Of The Corta: Unusual Wine Bottle Sizes Could Be A 2017 Wine Trend
In California’s Sonoma and Napa Valley, cult winemakers are experimenting with an unusual wine bottle size, the corta. This is a short bottle that was inspired by the hand-blown glass bottles found in ancient Italy. They contain 9 percent less glass than the average Bordeaux-style bottle, and they take up 14 percent less room in a cellar

Italian Wines Of Masi Agricola
The history of Masi is the history of a family and its vineyards in the Venetian regions. The name itself derives from “Vaio dei Masi”, the small valley in Valpolicella acquired by the Boscaini family, who are still its owners now, at the end of the XVIII century.
Today, Sandro Boscaini, company President and Managing Director, runs Masi with the help of his daughter Alessandra, in charge of sales and administration; his son Raffaele, Marketing Manager and Co-ordinator of the Masi Technical Group and his brother Bruno, Production and Plant Manager. His brother Mario has his own business, but is still part of Masi and an adviser to the management.
