New Vodka
Spirit of Gallo has launched Heat Check, a new vodka brand that brings together the company’s New Amsterdam vodka with Hot Ones, the YouTube hot-sauce themed interview show. Languedoc winemaker Gérard Bertrand is debuting a new line of organic, unfiltered wines called Trouble XP. Launching at Whole Foods on the 4th of July, Trouble XP includes white (Chardonnay, Grenache Blanc, Viognier), rosé (Syrah, Grenache Noir), and red (Grenache Noir, Syrah) blends retailing at $25 a bottle. The vegan wines skip the post-fermentation filtering process and have suspended particles and a cloudy appearance. Gérard Bertrand’s namesake brand has U.S. volume of around 550,000 cases annually.

Ste Michelle Wine Estates is extending Washington wine brand 14 Hands with two new wines, a Buttery Chardonnay and Sweet Red Blend. The Buttery Chardonnay retails at $15 a 750-ml., while the Sweet Red Blend—a mix of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon—is positioned at $12. Sourced from Washington state’s Columbia Valley, they’re both rolling out to select retailers nationally. 14 Hands brand director Phillip Cleveland cited “the buttery Chardonnay category’s continued growth and the sweet red category’s strong appeal to new wine drinkers” in announcing the launch. 14 Hands has U.S. volume of 1 million cases annually, according to Impact Databank.

O’Neill Vintners’ FitVine has released two varietals in new aluminum bottles. The wines—Sauvignon Blanc and Chillable Red Blend—are now available in select retailers across the U.S. for a suggested price of $15, in addition to DTC availability through the brand’s website. Fitvine’s Sauvignon Blanc comes in at 12.5% abv and 110 calories per serving and the Chillable Red Blend is at 13% abv and also has 110 calories per serving. Last year, FitVine was at 220,000 cases in the U.S., according to Impact Databank.
