Franklin Wine Club Welcomes Chatom Vineyards
Gay Callon from Chatom Vineyards guest speaker.
Please join us and welcome Gay to our wine club for a night of wine education and tasting. Friday February 13th 7-9PM
The vineyard of Chatom Vineyards is nestled in the breathtaking Esmeralda Valley of the Sierra Foothills in Calaveras County CA. The valley was originally planted with low field crops, fruits and nut trees. When Gay Callan, owner and native San Franciscan, purchased the property in 1980, her vision was to plant a vineyard. Her first varietals were then planted in 1981, totaling 21 acres of Chardonnay and Chenin Blanc.
Today, the vineyard boasts 13 varietals planted on 65 acres, including Chardonnay, Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Zinfandel, Syrah, Sangiovese and 5 Portuguese varietals.

Does 100 point thinking poison the mind?
For all their usefulness, points rot the mind when it comes to wine. They are a terribly distorting lens to view the wine world through.

What Is Bergamount??
Have seen this many times in wine tasting terms never truly saw a definition.
Bergamot orange is a hidden gem among citrus fruits. Grown primarily in southern Italy and the shores of the Mediterranean Sea, bergamot is known for the unique tangy and aromatic qualities of the fruit’s peel. Bergamot gives Earl Grey tea its signature floral notes and taste; chefs use it for an extra layer of flavor in gourmet desserts; and in aromatherapy, bergamot elevates the essences in designer fragrances.
